THEATER CAMP X AKT

We’re back from Theater Camp and we have ALL the gossip. If you missed our first film premiere here’s how it went down!

AKT is BORN TO PERFORM. It’s in our DNA. Our founders met in London’s West End, our formula is tested on dancers and our natural deodorant gives our Cast the confidence to step onto their stage – whatever that may be –  and perform. So when Searchlight Pictures reached out about hosting an exclusive screening of their new movie THEATER CAMP we knew it was the perfect pairing.

 

 

Theater Camp tells the story of a scrappy Theater Camp in upstate New York that’s a haven for budding performers. After the owner falls into a coma it’s up to her son to save the camp from financial ruin. He and his band of eccentric teachers including Amos (Ben Platt) and Rebecca-Diane (Molly Gordon) need to come up with a solution before opening night.

As theatre kids ourselves, life at Theater Camp is all too familiar. It’s a place to be creative, find your tribe; express yourself and make memories that last a lifetime.

This movie evokes so much nostalgia for us - especially for our founders. Andy has even been on both sides of the experience: a student AND a teacher. In fact, one of his former students from his teaching days was at the premiere now as part of the PRESS! What a full-circle moment.

So let’s get into the night itself:

We knew that for our first venture into producing a full event, we had to DELIVER. But darling, you don’t need to worry – we’re from theatre – we know how to put on a SHOW! 

We went all out: The Curzon Cinema in London’s West End was the setting; we made movie posters for each of our scents (they’re the real stars!); set up a pick and mix station for our guests to try our mini tubes, we had vintage theatre stubs made and the popcorn was OVERFLOWING.

We were lucky enough to be joined by some of the best of the West End, members of the AKT Cast who know the power of our deodorant and some real powerhouses of the beauty industry. Robin Kent was there to photograph all our glamorous guests and our own Matt Hawksley from the Front of House team came to capture those special behind the scenes moments.

The movie wasn’t the only thing that was premiering that evening either. After a warm welcome from our founders, Ed and Andy, the audience were treated to our new film giving the full story behind AKT.

 

 

We LOVED it! Theater Camp is a clever and witty mockumentary which had our audience snickering and nodding along in recognition. It captures the absurdity but also the magic of theatre and everyone who it touches. Everyone left with a real glow.

We couldn’t be prouder of the evening and who we got to share the night with. It was a glittering celebration of theatre, achievement, people and support.
