RECYCLE WEEK: HOW TO RECYCLE AKT

Beauty shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet. Did you know that millions of beauty products end up in landfills every year, contributing to our growing waste crisis? That’s why we’re committed to crafting products that are not only effective but also align with our ethos of sustainability. Our entire lineup is 100% recyclable, plastic-free, natural, and vegan—ensuring your skin is happy and Mother Earth even happier. 🌍

With our newest additions, it might feel a bit overwhelming to know where to start with recycling beauty products. So, to celebrate this October’s Recycle Week, we’ve curated this guide on how to recycle each AKT product.

THE KONJAC SPONGE

One of the easiest additions to your eco-friendly beauty routine is our Konjac Sponge.
Are Konjac Sponges sustainable?
Yes! Konjac sponges are made from the root of the konjac plant. We are working to eliminate plastic sponges from use in showers, as they release microplastics into our water systems.

How do you recycle The Konjac Sponge?
The Konjac Sponge decomposes naturally and should be disposed of in your organic waste bin.

THE AKT LINEUP

When it comes to the rest of our lineup, The Deodorant Balm, The Body Wash Concentrate, and The Body Conditioning Balm are all plastic-free and fully recyclable!
Our tubes are made of aluminum and are infinitely recyclable without losing any quality. So your tube will have life again as a bicycle, electric car, or maybe a drink can.

Is aluminum packaging safe?
It sure is. Aluminum Chlorohydrate (salt) is what is found in traditional antiperspirants—not to be confused with Aluminum Metal, like a drinks can. It’s extremely safe and doesn’t affect the product.

Is our packaging really plastic-free and 100% recyclable?
We don’t use any plastics in our packaging whatsoever. It’s no easy feat! We developed bespoke aluminum caps, which took us years to make—even though they’re so simple. The industry is geared towards plastic, so it’s up to smaller brands like us to set the trends.

How do you recycle the packaging?
Place the tube and cap together into your aluminum recycling bin. If you don't have access to one, we suggest contacting your local authority to ask how you can recycle aluminum. Aluminum can be endlessly recycled without losing quality. Ever.

OUR COMMITMENT

Our commitment to sustainability and reducing plastic waste in the beauty industry is ongoing, serving as a stepping stone towards the change our industry desperately needs. For us, it encompasses everything—from production to product use and disposal. Additionally, AKT is currently working towards achieving B Corp certification in association with the incredible team at Futureproof. We are also collaborating with Ecologi, who help build simple and impactful climate solutions for businesses by planting trees in trackable forests that are held to account.

For a better future, for you and the planet. 🧡
