Let's hear it for the girls. Every year on March 8th, International Women's Day invites us to join a standing ovation for the achievements of women worldwide. Shining a spotlight on the remarkable women of history – whilst urging each generation that follows to keep fighting the good fight, IWD is an annual call to action for a true gender-equal, inclusive society.
International Women’s Day is for everyone. IWD is, and never was just for cisgender women – it’s a movement that transcends the boundaries of class, race, and gender. As a gender-free brand – we celebrate all women. Today, tomorrow, and every other day of the year.

We asked a handful of our team to share a bit about what they do at AKT, pearls of wisdom from the women they surround themselves with, and the best advice they could give our female readers.
JEN: CHIEF OF STAFF
My role is to work with the Executive Team to help drive strategic projects and priorities across the business, driving operational efficiency and ensuring alignment across departments.
Who is a woman that inspires you, and why?
‘I am constantly inspired by my friends who have naturally transformed into wonderful mums. I watch them with awe, taking notes of what I want to be when I become a mum one day.”
KATIE: MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT
My role here at AKT is to help bring all finance operations in-house, establish processes and, set up new systems, in order to be primed and ready for the rapid expansion set out in the business growth plans.
What’s the best piece of advice you could give to a woman?
"Comparison is the thief of joy’. We are all guilty of comparing ourselves to other women, but this does not bring any positivity. We should all appreciate our own circumstances and achievements and celebrate our own wins, rather than someone else’s. We are all wonderful in our own way!"

My role at AKT is to enhance your experience across email communications – sending beautiful and tailored content to you that you'll connect with.
What’s the best piece of advice you could give to a woman?
"Own your power, trust yourself, set boundaries, love what you do and never shrink to fit in a box."
JESS: HR BUSINESS PARTNER
My role is to look after AKT's most valuable asset - their people! Ensuring that they can perform to deliver the needs of a growing business and support their personal career development.
What’s the best piece of advice you could give to a woman?
"Own your own career and pathway in life. It’s ok to ask for help and advice but you don’t have to wait to be asked to have a voice or to take the next step. Success isn’t about having everything perfectly in place, but about investing in your own growth and believing in your potential.”
LIZZIE: OPS & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER
I manage all manufacturing and supply chain operations. I’m here to make sure our products are prepped and ready for our lovely customers – and that they’ll get to you in good time!
Who is a woman that inspires you, and why?
"My sister-in-law, because she's also my best friend, partner in crime, confidant - everything rolled into one. She tends to experience life first, whether it be marriage, having kids, friendships drifting, heartbreak, she's been there and done it all with unimaginable strength.”
LOU: BRAND CAMPAIGN MANAGER
My role is to create beautiful and fun content for our audience! I love to help our customers understand and connect with AKT’s values and products.
What’s the best piece of advice you could give to a woman?
"Never let society's stereotypes and expectations make you feel that you must conform to a certain idea of what it means to be a woman. Always stand up for your right to be heard, and never let anyone dictate what you should do or who you should be."
LULU: COMMUNITY MANAGER
My role is to empower our ambassadors to produce incredible content, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed while engaging with our community to ensure they feel heard, supported, and valued in shaping our incredible brand.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received from a woman?
"One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received came from my mum: 'You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.' The people we surround ourselves with have a profound impact on who we are—how we think, how we approach life, and how we see ourselves. It’s much like the saying, 'Tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are.' The message is simple: choose your inner circle wisely. The right people will lift you up, while the wrong ones may hold you back."
HANNAH: SENIOR SOCIAL MEDIA EXECUTIVE
I look after AKT’s social media channels, overseeing and creating content, engaging with our audience, and keeping our brand’s online presence fresh and active.
Who is a woman that inspires you, and why?
"The first person who comes to mind will always be my mum. She is and has always been the hardest-working person I know. Endlessly creative, generous, and always putting everyone else’s happiness first, she prioritises having fun and not taking life too seriously, something that I value more and more as I get older!"
